Hire Quality Candidates with Vested

If you are like many companies, you probably use job boards or other employment search services that charge 20 percent of salary. For executives, it can be as much as 45 percent of salary.

Most of the resumes on job boards are often unqualified, and companies waste time screening wrong applicants and candidates.

When you use the large agency firms, they will mine LinkedIn and Indeed for you, but then charge you 20 percent of first year salary.

Other firms charge you a low fee to do the search for you.. then hand you a report. You're on your own in terms of convincing those passive candidates (with already cush jobs) to meet with you for an interview.

At Vested, we provide all three phases of recruiting at a reasonable cost. We use technology for candidate sourcing. Then we have dedicated recruiters who will shepherd them to your recruiting funnel. Finally, we provide advice on interviewing and on boarding the talent to your company.

This was the process we used to help fill 5 senior roles at MOKA Analytics.

They recently raised capital and needed to boost the sales team in 3 months.

They would have had to pay 25% PER ROLE (!) to fill those positions.

Vested came in. Found them the candidates and saved them over $250K in fees.

We're acquiring clients in New York and San Francisco because we deliver high quality candidates at a reasonable cost.

Contact us today for your next hire.

Tips on On Boarding New Hires

As a tech enabled recruiting service, we not help with the candidate sourcing for open positions, but we also help with the onboarding of new hires to your business.

Here are some of our best practices in on boarding new hires:

Create a written onboarding and orientation plan for your new hire. This creates an agenda and helps the new hire to get oriented with how things are done in the organization. It doesn't have to go to include every minutiae of a typical day. It can be a draft or overview of what is expected in the early days as an employee of the firm.

Have a formal orientation in the first day. This can include a conference session where HR takes the new hires into a conference room to go over benefits and salary. It can also be an opportunity to go over basic policies on how to operate as a good employee.

Have an informal dinner with the boss and the team. This gets everybody out of the office and get to know each other better. It benefits two ways. It provides the new hire a chance to introduce himself or herself to the team. It gets existing team members a chance to get out of the office and have a break from the day-to-day pressures of the job. It boosts everyone's morale. Succinctly, it's a win-win for everybody.

Secure a workspace and set it up for the new hire. This will allow the new hire to test the systems and give them a sense of "home base" within their new environment.

Quick Tips on Interviewing

We not only work with clients with candidate sourcing, but we take it to the next level as an employment search service.

We help clients with interviewing candidates and with on boarding.

Here some quick tips on how to improve your interview process.

Intros and Small talk

The first few minutes of an interview are very important because they set the tone for the rest of the interview. This is your shot to get the candidate to feel relaxed and comfortable immediately.

The Interview

Before you begin the interview, make sure that you have identified 2-4 skills that you want to optimize for the role. Three is a good number — any more than that, there are too many factors to consider and decision-making fatigue will occur.

Here are some skills you may want to consider:

1. Technical ability (i.e. accounting knowledge, SQL writing, etc.)

2. Communication (especially in client-facing roles)

3. Leadership experience (manager-level and above)

Sell the opportunity

By the time an interview is ending, you should have an idea about whether the candidate is right for the job. If you feel good about the match, then shift to selling the job and your company. An effective interview is a two way street!

Vested Recruiting Testimonial from Care/Of

Here's how we helped care/of with our recruiting search service.

Problem: Care/of is a rapidly growing company with fluctuating hiring needs including several key leadership roles. Landing the right number of internal recruiters has been a challenge.

Solution: Vested provides Care/of with a flexible recruiting service option to support their growing and changing needs.

Here our conversation with their Head of People:

What challenges faced care/of before using Vested?

Although our overall recruiting team was achieving our goals, there were certain roles that were lagging and really needed some extra TLC. We really struggled to find a recruiting partner who understood what we were looking for and was able to move at the pace we needed.

How has Vested recruiting helped solve those challenges?

Vested has been the single best thing that has happened to Care/of recruiting this year. It now feels as though we have this extended recruiting team that we can "turn on" when needed. We've already had several huge wins on some key roles that we've partnered with Vested on.

How would you quantify the impact of Vested?

We have saved tens of thousands in external recruiting fees through Vested's much more affordable and scalable business model. My goal and hope is that we continue to partner with Vested for years to come.

How Vested is Changing the Recruiting Industry

Recruiting is inefficient and expensive:

1. Finding Talent is resource intensive - hard to fill roles require a sales approach.

2. Recruiters overcharge - companies spend $150B+ per year on external staffing solutions.

3. Finding the right talent partner is hard - Over 200,000 agencies worldwide and few optimize for quality.

Recruiting has changed over the past 60 years, why hasn't the agency model?

1. Why is the standard fee 25%?
2. Why is it all or nothing?
3. Why is there no transparency?

Finally, we asked this final question:

What if recruiting entered into the 21st century?

We pay for what we use now. B2B Industry leaders are moving to pay-for-consumption models.

At Vested, we are changing the recruiting Model. We provide low-cost disaggregated recruiting solutions:

1. Low Cost Sourcing
2. A la carte, flexible arrangements
3. Transparency

How We Recruit Faster, Better and Cheaper Than Everyone Else

At Vested Technology, we believe candidate sourcing can be better, faster and more efficient.

25% standard fee is archaic in today's times!

Ever wonder why recruiters charge 25-35% fees for finding candidates?

We did on-field testing and research on our own.

During a span of 6 months, we got into the trenches of sourcing, screening, assessing and placing numerous candidates at local NYC startups.

We gained a deeper understanding in the "day in the life" of our customers and the obstacles they face when sourcing for top candidates.

We documented specific patterns and behaviors to find efficiencies and presented them to dozens of recruiting leaders.

We then asked ourselves: how can we make this better? How can this be faster?

Combining rigorous data driven methodology with a human touch, we have perfected the art of reaching out to passive candidates en masse. Then custom tailoring our search based on your job description and key words.

Why pay someone 25% to do what AI and technology can do? We live in the 21st century. Technology has improved to a point, where searching LinkedIn or the Internet can be done in seconds and not the hours upon hours a human recruiter will take just to manually search for a candidate.

Once technology has sourced the right candidates and funneled them to short list, that's when the human touch comes in.

Our team of experienced recruiters will then work to get you the right candidate.

Technology with a human touch - this is the future.

Need to Hire New Employees?

As you may have read in the news recently, job growth is faring poorly in America. Companies don't want to commit to hiring permanent employees because of all of the liabilities and regulations that come with hiring them.

Companies can hire 1099 or temporary workers instead, but they may actually want a permanent employee or don't want to risk employee reclassification by the IRS.

Employee reclassification occurs when the IRS audits your business and finds that you incorrectly classified your employees as independent consultants. The reason why companies would classify their employees as consultants would be to avoid paying the employer side of taxes and other W-2 rules and regulations. If the IRS becomes suspicious of a company incorrectly classifying it's workers, they will audit the company and apply the 20 question employment test to determine if the consultants are treated as consultants or as employees.

If they were in fact treated as employees then the company will face heavy fines and will become responsible for paying all of the taxes owed from previous years. Truthfully, many companies don't know about this difference and don't incorrectly classify their workers maliciously. However this risk dissuades many companies from hiring any employee on a 1099 basis anyways, regardless if they are correctly classified or not. However hiring W-2 employees isn't simple either.

Just ask any HR representative how complicated all of the regulations are when hiring or firing an employee. Due to these problems many companies are holding off on hiring any employees regardless of their classification and are choosing to see whether or not the economy improves before assuming any responsibility or liability.

However there is a way for companies to hire staff as either temporary or long term employees without assuming the aforementioned risks and liabilities. There are agencies which will act as the employer of record which will classify the employee as their own W-2 employee.

This enables any company to hire an employee as a consultant for as long as they need them. They become an on demand resource.

All of the correct tax withholding requirements and other regulations will be handled by the agency so the company doesn't have to worry about an audit or reclassification fines. Furthermore, the employee will be protected by the agency's umbrella of coverage which could be quite attractive depending on the agency.

By hiring employees through an agency companies can mitigate their risk and liabilities effectively. If more companies knew about this option then we may finally see the job market improve in America.

If you are interested in learning more about hiring workers through an agency or want to put your 1099 or LLC through an agency contact us to learn more.

Leverage Technology for Employee Training

At Vested, we not only work with clients on sourcing for the best candidates for their job openings, but we also provide consulting solutions for talent retention.

For example, we leverage technology to help with employee training. Here's how we do it:

Video Conferencing

Many companies have to fly employees to a certain location for training. This costs both money and time as it requires them to take time off work to travel to the location. According to VDO 360, one advantage of video conferencing is that it allows you to bring the training to your employees.

Virtual Reality

Sometimes, training is for a technical skill that must be taught on an actual piece of machinery. For example, someone may need training on how to operate a vehicle a certain way. This can also drastically reduce training expenses and reduce the risk involved in teaching exercises. Virtual reality can eliminate the risk of training accidents and make these sessions easier to hold. It will also reduce scheduling hassles and make it easier to hold regular training.

Training Simulations

Even if you do not use virtual reality, you can still have your employees work in real-life settings in a way that helps them sharpen their skills.

If you need help with candidate sourcing, on boarding or talent retention, contact our recruiting experts to find the appropriate HR solution for your business.

Candidate Sourcing for Moka Analytics

At Vested, we are your premier provider of candidate sourcing for your hiring needs. Here's a brief case study on how we helped Moka Analytics with their recruiting efforts.

As an early stage startup, Moka had a limited budget, a need to scale the business and many positions to fill. They faced a dilemma: how can they scale the business when there's not enough capital for product development and paying exorbitant agency fees for attracting and recruiting talent?

We came in and changed the recruiting game for Moka Analytics. We managed their outreach messaging so they can target active and highly qualified passive candidates.

As we provided candidate sourcing solutions at a low cost, Moka's leadership was able to focus on addressing critical business activities while getting a stream of qualified candidates. They saved a lot of money and continued to use limited capital for business growth.

We saved over 200 hours of candidate search to fill 5 openings for Moka. We delivered 75+ candidates to choose from. Finally, we saved them well over $100K in agency fees.

This is how we impact businesses. We save you money and time so your business can spend it's precious capital to scale the business.

Why Time to Fill is Important

One of the ways our on demand recruiting platform benefits hiring companies is our ability to minimize time to fill.

What is time to fill?

It's a key recruiting metric that counts the number of days between the publication of a job and getting an offer accepted.

The recruiting process is a lot like a conveyor belt in a factory. A piece of metal travels on a conveyor belt and makes many stops along the way before it is converted to an engine.

The success of the factory depends on how quickly and how efficiently the metal is processed through each stop on the conveyor belt.

It's a similar process with recruiting. There are many steps before a company can hire the right candidate.

The process can breakdown in number of ways. A recruiting manager could have an issue with sourcing candidates. Perhaps, the hiring company doesn't market their jobs effectively. Or perhaps the hiring company has a too narrow of a focus and would benefit from opening up the potential pool candidates.

At Vested, we have identified many of these steps and have found ways to minimize the cost and to minimize the time spent in finding the right candidate. We spend all our efforts to minimize the time to fill for all our clients so they can focus on their business and not worry about how to fill an open role.

To learn more about time to fill and how we help our clients, visit us.

Flexibility is Key to Your Job Search

At Vested, we not only provide employment search services for our clients, but we also provide career advice for job seekers.

In a recent blog article, we discussed the power of flexibility when seeking a new job. Here is why flexibility is key to job search:

Your Ideal Position May Not Exist

For many people, their ideal position does not exist among the jobs postings that they’re looking through. This could be because of the educational limits of the job seeker, but it can also be because employers haven’t caught up with certain skill sets, technologies, and benefits that the employment seeker has now.

How People Work Has Changed

If you’re focused on sitting at a desk for eight to 10 hours a day, then you’ll need to be flexible with options regarding how you work and where you work from. Many employers prefer a partial telecommuting designation for positions, especially for their higher-level roles, instead of having workers spend 100% of their time in the office.

Your Interests Can Change

Ask yourself this: Have my interests or desires and what I want in a job changed? If the answer is maybe or yes, then consider the possibility of switching industries. You may find that your ideal job is out there, but it’s in a different industry than the ones you were considering before.

To get more advice on your job search, check out our career resources on our website.

How Fractional Recruiting Can Benefit Your Business

Not only is Vested unique in its on demand recruiting platform, but we are also pioneers of fractional recruiting.

Fractional recruiting grew in popularity in financial institutions and academia. A fractional employee divides his or her time among multiple employers. He/she might spend 10 hours in one company and a couple of hours in another.

In a way, fractional recruiting is a form of consulting work.

For new ventures like startups, fractional recruiting could be a way to save costs. Most startups have technical founders who excel in coding or product promotion. However, few are finance experts who are needed in discussions with venture capitalists.

However, an early stage startup would not have the resources to hire a full time CFO or even a Finance Director.

Enter the realm of fractional recruiting.

In this model, a startup could use the expertise of a part time CFO. He/she can help with the investor decks. Moreover, the startup can use the time to see if there is a long term fit for the CFO.

The CFO will also be doing the same, as he or she decides if the business has long term potential.

Why would an Executive Consider Part Time Work?

Due to life events (such as death in the family, or maternal leave), executives need to escape the full time responsibilities of being a C-Level executive. However, executives all have similar traits: they are ambitious workaholics. They enjoy their job because they know they're good at it.

It's like telling Michael Jordan or LeBron James to stop playing basketball for an extended period. They just get that "itch" to get back into things.

Fractional recruiting is a model that allows them the flexibility to work and deal with out-of-work issues. This is why it's so popular with many executives on leave.

Some executives want to test another industry or are "in-between" jobs. They're not willing to commit to any company or industry at the moment. They want to test out new fields.

Executive fractional recruiting allows them to test different companies (in particular startups). They get a sense about the team, the culture, the product and the industry. If the fit is right, then the executive can stay on board full time.

Fractional Recruiting is a Win-Win

Early stage ventures or businesses strapped for cash get executive level experience.

Investors and board of directors are happy with experienced executives participating in the company, which preserving cash.

Finally, startups benefit by having an experienced candidate working for them, even if it's just part-time.

In the right situation, fractional recruiting is a win-win for both parties.

If you wish to explore the realm of fractional recruiting, contact one of our customer service reps at 347 618 0752.

Or visit our website to learn more about fractional recruiting. Or visit us at LinkedIn.

Vested Offers More Value than Job Boards

Why choose on demand recruiting with Vested versus using a job board?

By working with Vested, we help you reach passive candidates. Your ideal candidate are often not looking for a new job. We spend 100 percent of our time bringing highly talented passive candidates to your recruiting funnel.

We reduce time-to-hire. First, you spend more time on your business, while we take care of candidate sourcing. Then we send you passive job seekers that matches your criteria. Hence, they are often higher quality and quicker to go through your candidate vetting process.

Disrupting the HR Industry

Here's the Vested candidate sourcing team hard at work at our recent off site.

In our meetings, we identified 19 steps for every successful recruitment. These are steps that each and every recruiter or HR manager will follow in order to source talent.

What do they all have in common? It's all manual!

It's no wonder many startups and small businesses become frustrated at the process. Just finding the right talent can take up so much time. And each second spent reviewing another LinkedIn profile is another second away from scaling up the business.

It's no wonder traditional agencies can get away with charging so much for their services.

At Vested, we use a combination of automation and outsourcing to speed up the process. Using our model, we have not only sped up the process of sourcing the right candidate, but we have also driven down the costs to fill an open role at a company.

We plan to disrupt the recruiting industry. It's an age old industry that has relied for far too long on inefficient processes.

At Vested, we can do it better. We can do it faster. We can do it at a more cost effective price point.

To learn more about how we do it, visit our website.

Or give us a call at 347 618 0752.

Candidate Sourcing with Vested Technology

As online candidate sourcing specialists, clients often wonder what we look like. Are we all AI recruiting? Are we just robots behind that fancy website?

Well, here's a pic of Co-Founder Akash with the official Vested mascot.

Vested is a team of finance and tech specialists, working to solve a problem in the recruiting industry: to find an effective and affordable solution to source candidates.

Sourcing candidates can be a long and expensive process. Most startup founders do not have the time and resources to mine LinkedIn for the perfect candidate. If they go to a traditional recruiter, they'll often have to pay as much as 40 percent of the first year salary (for an executive).

As former managers and directors of startups, we identified this conundrum in the sourcing, recruiting and hiring of qualified candidates.

There was definitely a need for an affordable on demand recruiting service.

Thus, Vested Technology was born.

We identified the required steps to source and to recruit for candidates. We used technology and automation, combined with cost effective outsourcing to drive down the costs of these steps.

And this is our secret sauce that makes our $999/mo subscription work.

So who is behind Vested?

We're business people looking to improve an archaic business model - an industry that needs a little disrupting.

Safety Tips on Applying for Jobs Online

Job search websites have made it possible to post your resume on line and apply for a job on the Internet in minutes. It should make life easier, but instead many job seekers are finding themselves still unemployed and the victims of identity theft as well.
How it works

While searching for a job, you respond to an ad or you are contacted by a company who viewed your resume on line. They encourage you to apply for a position in their company on their website, which requires you to create an account. You create an account, apply for a job, and then never hear anything.

Two months later you are the victim of identity theft and someone is using your bank account. You have unknowingly given vital information to an identity thief posing as a potential employer. Here are tips from the on demand recruiting specialists at:

How to protect yourself

First, never apply for a job on a company website that requires you to create an account. Even if they don't ask you for detailed information like your social security number, an identity thief can learn a great deal about you just with a user name, email and password.

Most Americans use the same email, user name and password on all of their web based registrations, and chances are the one you used when creating an account with their "company" will also get them into your Paypal account, which will in turn get them into your banking and credit information.

As a general rule for all Internet registrations, use a free email address and password for all generic sites like message boards, and a new email address and unique password for any site that stores your financial and private information. Instead, send your resume and application through the regular mail. If this is not an option, that is a big red flag for an identity thief posing as a company.

Check with the Better Business Bureau before applying to any company. This is especially true for work at home jobs where you have to fill out tax paperwork and send it in. You'll fill out your paperwork, with social security number, send or fax it in and then it's gone into their hands and you never hear back from them.

Be wary also of established companies that contact you. It is not hard to fake a legitimate looking website and official email. If the email does not send you to the company's main website or if there is no contact information, chances are good it is an identity theft scam.

Identity theft is everywhere on the net, and while you're looking for your perfect job make sure to use these precautions to protect yourself. Best of luck in your job search!

Cost Effective Candidate Sourcing with Vested

In a recent interview with 2Bridges, Co-Founder Andy Seidl discussed the challenges of candidate sourcing for startups, and how Vested can help companies with this important HR task.

Candidate sourcing is important to build a pipeline of candidates. It allows for attracting passive job searchers or active job applicants. It's important to tap into both of these pools to get the best candidate for a job opening.

By having a solid pipeline, a company will waste less time in candidate sourcing and spend more time with interviewing, on boarding and retaining talent.

In the traditional recruiting industry, agencies and recruiting firms charge as much as 20 percent of first year salary. For executive search firms, the fee could be as high as 45 percent!

At Vested, we can provide the same service for our clients using our monthly, on demand recruiting solution. It costs way less than 20 percent of first year salary.

It's how we have helped top startups like Moka and Peloton to scale their business at an affodable cost.
