Hire Quality Candidates with Vested

If you are like many companies, you probably use job boards or other employment search services that charge 20 percent of salary. For executives, it can be as much as 45 percent of salary.

Most of the resumes on job boards are often unqualified, and companies waste time screening wrong applicants and candidates.

When you use the large agency firms, they will mine LinkedIn and Indeed for you, but then charge you 20 percent of first year salary.

Other firms charge you a low fee to do the search for you.. then hand you a report. You're on your own in terms of convincing those passive candidates (with already cush jobs) to meet with you for an interview.

At Vested, we provide all three phases of recruiting at a reasonable cost. We use technology for candidate sourcing. Then we have dedicated recruiters who will shepherd them to your recruiting funnel. Finally, we provide advice on interviewing and on boarding the talent to your company.

This was the process we used to help fill 5 senior roles at MOKA Analytics.

They recently raised capital and needed to boost the sales team in 3 months.

They would have had to pay 25% PER ROLE (!) to fill those positions.

Vested came in. Found them the candidates and saved them over $250K in fees.

We're acquiring clients in New York and San Francisco because we deliver high quality candidates at a reasonable cost.

Contact us today for your next hire.

Tips on On Boarding New Hires

As a tech enabled recruiting service, we not help with the candidate sourcing for open positions, but we also help with the onboarding of new hires to your business.

Here are some of our best practices in on boarding new hires:

Create a written onboarding and orientation plan for your new hire. This creates an agenda and helps the new hire to get oriented with how things are done in the organization. It doesn't have to go to include every minutiae of a typical day. It can be a draft or overview of what is expected in the early days as an employee of the firm.

Have a formal orientation in the first day. This can include a conference session where HR takes the new hires into a conference room to go over benefits and salary. It can also be an opportunity to go over basic policies on how to operate as a good employee.

Have an informal dinner with the boss and the team. This gets everybody out of the office and get to know each other better. It benefits two ways. It provides the new hire a chance to introduce himself or herself to the team. It gets existing team members a chance to get out of the office and have a break from the day-to-day pressures of the job. It boosts everyone's morale. Succinctly, it's a win-win for everybody.

Secure a workspace and set it up for the new hire. This will allow the new hire to test the systems and give them a sense of "home base" within their new environment.

Quick Tips on Interviewing

We not only work with clients with candidate sourcing, but we take it to the next level as an employment search service.

We help clients with interviewing candidates and with on boarding.

Here some quick tips on how to improve your interview process.

Intros and Small talk

The first few minutes of an interview are very important because they set the tone for the rest of the interview. This is your shot to get the candidate to feel relaxed and comfortable immediately.

The Interview

Before you begin the interview, make sure that you have identified 2-4 skills that you want to optimize for the role. Three is a good number — any more than that, there are too many factors to consider and decision-making fatigue will occur.

Here are some skills you may want to consider:

1. Technical ability (i.e. accounting knowledge, SQL writing, etc.)

2. Communication (especially in client-facing roles)

3. Leadership experience (manager-level and above)

Sell the opportunity

By the time an interview is ending, you should have an idea about whether the candidate is right for the job. If you feel good about the match, then shift to selling the job and your company. An effective interview is a two way street!

Vested Recruiting Testimonial from Care/Of

Here's how we helped care/of with our recruiting search service.

Problem: Care/of is a rapidly growing company with fluctuating hiring needs including several key leadership roles. Landing the right number of internal recruiters has been a challenge.

Solution: Vested provides Care/of with a flexible recruiting service option to support their growing and changing needs.

Here our conversation with their Head of People:

What challenges faced care/of before using Vested?

Although our overall recruiting team was achieving our goals, there were certain roles that were lagging and really needed some extra TLC. We really struggled to find a recruiting partner who understood what we were looking for and was able to move at the pace we needed.

How has Vested recruiting helped solve those challenges?

Vested has been the single best thing that has happened to Care/of recruiting this year. It now feels as though we have this extended recruiting team that we can "turn on" when needed. We've already had several huge wins on some key roles that we've partnered with Vested on.

How would you quantify the impact of Vested?

We have saved tens of thousands in external recruiting fees through Vested's much more affordable and scalable business model. My goal and hope is that we continue to partner with Vested for years to come.

How Vested is Changing the Recruiting Industry

Recruiting is inefficient and expensive:

1. Finding Talent is resource intensive - hard to fill roles require a sales approach.

2. Recruiters overcharge - companies spend $150B+ per year on external staffing solutions.

3. Finding the right talent partner is hard - Over 200,000 agencies worldwide and few optimize for quality.

Recruiting has changed over the past 60 years, why hasn't the agency model?

1. Why is the standard fee 25%?
2. Why is it all or nothing?
3. Why is there no transparency?

Finally, we asked this final question:

What if recruiting entered into the 21st century?

We pay for what we use now. B2B Industry leaders are moving to pay-for-consumption models.

At Vested, we are changing the recruiting Model. We provide low-cost disaggregated recruiting solutions:

1. Low Cost Sourcing
2. A la carte, flexible arrangements
3. Transparency

How We Recruit Faster, Better and Cheaper Than Everyone Else

At Vested Technology, we believe candidate sourcing can be better, faster and more efficient.

25% standard fee is archaic in today's times!

Ever wonder why recruiters charge 25-35% fees for finding candidates?

We did on-field testing and research on our own.

During a span of 6 months, we got into the trenches of sourcing, screening, assessing and placing numerous candidates at local NYC startups.

We gained a deeper understanding in the "day in the life" of our customers and the obstacles they face when sourcing for top candidates.

We documented specific patterns and behaviors to find efficiencies and presented them to dozens of recruiting leaders.

We then asked ourselves: how can we make this better? How can this be faster?

Combining rigorous data driven methodology with a human touch, we have perfected the art of reaching out to passive candidates en masse. Then custom tailoring our search based on your job description and key words.

Why pay someone 25% to do what AI and technology can do? We live in the 21st century. Technology has improved to a point, where searching LinkedIn or the Internet can be done in seconds and not the hours upon hours a human recruiter will take just to manually search for a candidate.

Once technology has sourced the right candidates and funneled them to short list, that's when the human touch comes in.

Our team of experienced recruiters will then work to get you the right candidate.

Technology with a human touch - this is the future.

Need to Hire New Employees?

As you may have read in the news recently, job growth is faring poorly in America. Companies don't want to commit to hiring permanent employees because of all of the liabilities and regulations that come with hiring them.

Companies can hire 1099 or temporary workers instead, but they may actually want a permanent employee or don't want to risk employee reclassification by the IRS.

Employee reclassification occurs when the IRS audits your business and finds that you incorrectly classified your employees as independent consultants. The reason why companies would classify their employees as consultants would be to avoid paying the employer side of taxes and other W-2 rules and regulations. If the IRS becomes suspicious of a company incorrectly classifying it's workers, they will audit the company and apply the 20 question employment test to determine if the consultants are treated as consultants or as employees.

If they were in fact treated as employees then the company will face heavy fines and will become responsible for paying all of the taxes owed from previous years. Truthfully, many companies don't know about this difference and don't incorrectly classify their workers maliciously. However this risk dissuades many companies from hiring any employee on a 1099 basis anyways, regardless if they are correctly classified or not. However hiring W-2 employees isn't simple either.

Just ask any HR representative how complicated all of the regulations are when hiring or firing an employee. Due to these problems many companies are holding off on hiring any employees regardless of their classification and are choosing to see whether or not the economy improves before assuming any responsibility or liability.

However there is a way for companies to hire staff as either temporary or long term employees without assuming the aforementioned risks and liabilities. There are agencies which will act as the employer of record which will classify the employee as their own W-2 employee.

This enables any company to hire an employee as a consultant for as long as they need them. They become an on demand resource.

All of the correct tax withholding requirements and other regulations will be handled by the agency so the company doesn't have to worry about an audit or reclassification fines. Furthermore, the employee will be protected by the agency's umbrella of coverage which could be quite attractive depending on the agency.

By hiring employees through an agency companies can mitigate their risk and liabilities effectively. If more companies knew about this option then we may finally see the job market improve in America.

If you are interested in learning more about hiring workers through an agency or want to put your 1099 or LLC through an agency contact us to learn more.

Leverage Technology for Employee Training

At Vested, we not only work with clients on sourcing for the best candidates for their job openings, but we also provide consulting solutions for talent retention.

For example, we leverage technology to help with employee training. Here's how we do it:

Video Conferencing

Many companies have to fly employees to a certain location for training. This costs both money and time as it requires them to take time off work to travel to the location. According to VDO 360, one advantage of video conferencing is that it allows you to bring the training to your employees.

Virtual Reality

Sometimes, training is for a technical skill that must be taught on an actual piece of machinery. For example, someone may need training on how to operate a vehicle a certain way. This can also drastically reduce training expenses and reduce the risk involved in teaching exercises. Virtual reality can eliminate the risk of training accidents and make these sessions easier to hold. It will also reduce scheduling hassles and make it easier to hold regular training.

Training Simulations

Even if you do not use virtual reality, you can still have your employees work in real-life settings in a way that helps them sharpen their skills.
